Amy Adams Is Lois Lane In Zack Snyder's "Superman"

Fiery redhead Amy Adams is ready to add a touch of awards season class to Zack Snyder's Superman. With his imaginative action-adventure flick Sucker Punch coming in second at the box office this past weekend (behind Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules), the director phoned the three-time Oscar nominee from Paris to let her know she'd been chosen to play Lois Lane in his upcoming Man of Steel reboot.

Los Angeles Times got the first scoop on Snyder's reasoning behind choosing Adams to play one of the most iconic love interests in superhero history. "It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today," said Snyder. "What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes.

Adams joins an ecclectic cast that includes Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Clark Kent/Superman, as well as Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Kent's adoptive parents here on Earth. The hunt is still on to fill the bad guy roles, now rumored to be the trio of General Zod, first lady Ursa, and guerilla grunt Non, who last battled the Kryptonian crimefighter on the big screen in Richard Lester's Superman II. Edgar Ramirez (Carlos) and Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) are rumored for those roles as of now.

Snyder's film is due in theaters in December 2012.
