Girls' Generation holds sold out concerts in Taiwan
Korean pop sensation Girls' Generation held two sold-out concerts in Taiwan over the weekend.
SM Entertainment announced in a press release Monday that the nine-member girl group flew into Taiwan last week for the concert "The 1st ASIA TOUR CONCERT - Into the New World" held at the Taipei Arena on October 16 and 17 which was attended by 24,000 fans.
The female idols also met with 100 local media outlets before their show for interviews and a press conference.
At the concert, the girls took to the stage to sing their hit songs "Gee," "Genie," "Kissing You" and "Oh!" as well as putting on solo performances.
SM labelmates Super Junior members Lee Teuk and Donghae made special appearances for Yoona's rendition of "If You Know a Good Man, Introduce Me" and Jessica's performance of "Barbie Girl," respectively.
Girls' Generation composed of other members Tiffany, Taeyeon, Sunny, Sooyong, Seohyun and Hyoyeon are one of the most popular female idols in Korea since their debut in 2007.
The girl group have visited several other countries in Asia such as China, Shanghai and Thailand for their concert last year as well as having branched out into the Japanese pop market in August.
They will be releasing their second Japanese single "Gee" on October 20.

“Gee” has not been officially released but it has already made its presence felt on music charts. On FM Radio’s Broadcast Chart, “Gee” made it to the #2 spot. On Jbook Real-Time Chart, “Gee” took the 5th spot as of 2.50pm (GMT+9). On the other hand, 3,928 copies of “Genie” single were sold in the 6th week, increasing the tally to a total of 92,663 copies (accumulative). “Genie” is currently placed at #19 on Oricon Singles Daily Chart for October 19th.
