Apart from a week-long celebration of all that is design and fashion during the New York Fashion Week, it was also a time of elation for game fans in the U.S. as the much anticipated Halo: Reach released this past Tuesday, September 14th. The prequel to the entire Halo franchise, Halo: Reach tells the story of Planet Reach, a frontier land in the Epsilon Eridani System, and the ensuing battle to defend it from the alien antagonist, the Covenant. In the Halo universe, Reach served as an important outpost, both strategically and tactically, to the UNSC, the galactic military command. The planet, however, was also home to a super solider development program, SPARTAN-II. So Reach, in many ways, was the birthplace to all SPARTAN soldiers, including one by the ID code John-117.
As of yesterday, Halo: Reach surpassed all gaming titles released this year in sale, with $200 million dollars made during the first 24-hour period. Microsoft and BUNGIE, the gaming studio that developed the Halo franchise, also compiled a list of ground breaking statistics, including: * 31,000,000 Games have been played since launch * 98,000,000 Player-games have been recorded * 8,214,338 Daily Challenges have been completed * 255,996 Weekly Challenges have been completed * 78,499,560,895 Total Credits have been earned * 953 Man-years have been spent in matchmade games * 1365 Man-years have been spent in campaign * 854,107 files have been uploaded * 577,804 recommendations have been sent to friends * 4,619,455 files have been downloaded
